A Mission Work We Highly Recommend
George Jensen, son of Bill and Lorene Jensen, was born in 1963. He grew up
in Concord, CA, attending the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ. George obeyed
the gospel in 1978. In 1985 he married the former Elaina Joy Jackson, daughter of Wayne and Betty Jackson, of Stockton, CA. George and Joy have four children: Julia (19), Jacob (17), Luke (16), and Lindsey (14).
The Jensens have been “mission minded” since George graduated from the East Tennessee School of Preaching & Missions in 1988.
George first worked with long-time Bay-area preacher, Windell Fikes, and the Airport church in South San Francisco (five years); and then, with the full cooperation of that congregation, established the church in Pacifica, California, where he worked for eight years. In 2001, the Jensens went to a small mission community in Iowa, where they have labored for the past 5 years.
Over the last ten years, the Jensens have participated in mission campaigns in New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Australia, Jamaica, and Africa. Earlier this year the entire family spent the month of May working in Malawi, Africa. During this trip, they observed the great need for more teachers and preachers in Africa. After much prayerful consideration, the family has made the commitment to move to Tanzania, Africa and work with a mission effort known as Tanzania 2000. This is a faithful, dedicated, hardworking family (each of which is involved in teaching) truly worthy of Christian support.
About Tanzania 2000
The Tanzania 2000 mission effort is the result of the vision and dedication of faithful brethren, beginning many years ago with Andrew Connally, missionary to Tanzania. The elders of the Kensington Woods church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, along with several missionaries, have expanded that vision. A strategic church-planting work in Tanzania has been set in motion, with short and long term goals, with the primary focus of training, preparing, and enabling Africans to evangelize Africans.
The Andrew Connally School of Preaching was opened in March of 2005. In addition to this school, there are two Bible schools, one in Arusha and one in Moshi, that serve to stimulate spiritual growth in the local congregations.
The Goal
The Jensens have set a goal to move to Tanzania in March/April 2007. They will work with the congregation in Moshi. They will participate in cooperative efforts with other congregations to both evangelize and develop the spiritual growth of local churches, as well as congregations in bush areas.
